As a leading non-profit conservation organization in Central Africa, ERuDeF is dedicated to saving rainforests, conserving species, and transforming lives. We aim to enhance food security and boost the incomes of resource-poor farmers by restoring agricultural landscapes in Cameroon.
ERuDeF (Environment and Rural Development Foundation) is the leading, award-winning Central African conservation and sustainable development NGO. For over two decades, we have delivered scientifically-driven solutions to halt biodiversity loss, enhance climate resilience, and secure sustainable livelihoods across the critical ecological zones of Cameroon and the wider Central African region.
ERuDeF, the Environment and Rural Development Foundation, is an established and award-winning Cameroonian non-profit conservation organization, founded in 1999. With over two decades of dedicated activity in Cameroon, ERuDeF has made substantial contributions to the restoration of the nation's fragile ecosystems and the promotion of sustainable environmental stewardship. The organization's comprehensive approach targets several critical areas essential for long-term ecological health and community resilience.
These efforts include robust forest regeneration initiatives, achieved through the establishment of strategic plantations and the implementation of agroforestry systems that benefit both the environment and local populations. Furthermore, ERuDeF is actively engaged in vital biodiversity conservation by protecting crucial wildlife habitats and supporting the effective management of protected areas. By integrating these practices, ERuDeF works to secure Cameroon's natural heritage while fostering a culture of sustainable management among rural communities.
ERuDeF actively promotes environmental education while empowering rural communities through innovative economic and livelihood development programmes.
Rainforests are often called the lungs of the planet for their role in absorbing carbon dioxide, they absorb 30 percent of the world’s CO2 emission each year.
The health of an ecosystem is maintained by its plants and animals. When species become endangered, it is a sign of an ecosystem’s imbalance.
Indigenous and local communities play a vital role in wildlife conservation and environment protection. They protect 80 percent of global biodiversity.
